Eisenmann’s stationary fluidized bed incinerators are primarily used for the thermal treatment of comminuted waste in the form of solids (e.g. biomass) or viscous sludge (e.g. dehydrated sewage sludge, oil sludge). Naturally, the fluidized bed process can also be deployed for special plant such as the gasification of waste plastics.

In line with your needs, Eisenmann can provide you with fluidized bed incineration in the form of individual components or a complete system solution. In addition to combustion, the system solution includes downstream waste heat recovery, precisely configured to make full use of the resulting flue gas, and flue gas purification in line with regulatory requirements.

Essentially, stationary fluidized bed incineration involves three components:

Windbox

  • Intake of high-pressure fluidizing air
  • Nozzle floor provides the “lid”

Sand bed/fluidized bed

  • Depending on the application, consists of an inert substance, the feed material, or a catalytically active material
  • Located above the nozzle floor
  • Fluidized by the ascending fluidizing air
  • High turbulences in the fluidized bed result in effective heat and mass transfer.

Freeboard

  • Refers to the space above the fluidized bed
  • Post-combustion of the flue gases given off by the fluidized bed
  • In other words, no separate post-combustion chamber is required.

Applications

  • Combustion of solid waste (biomass, oil shale)
  • Combustion of viscous sludge (oil sludge, sewage sludge)

Advantages

  • Made-to-measure solution for your specific application
  • High flexibility in terms of feed materials
  • Highly effective generation of energy due to optimal heat and mass transfer
  • Homogeneous combustion
  • No moving parts in combustion zone
  • Ideal for autothermal combustion of low-calorific value input material

Reduces load of downstream flue gas purification, as acidic components (e.g. halogens, sulfur) can be contained in the fluidized bed through the use of additives (e.g. limestone).
